How To Sample Oil Based Fragrances

The major reason that oil fragrances smell different on different individuals is because of body chemistry. In our case we will define body chemistry as the effects of individual body chacteristics on perfume oil fragrance.

Perfume oils are carefully blended to insure the accuracy of the ingredients and the constancy of the manufacturing process. When a oil based fragrance varies from one person to the next body chemistry is the primary reason.

You should always try a sample of a scented perfume oil before you purchase it. If your daily routine has not been normal there might be a change in your body chemistry, therefore you may not get an accurate presentation of the fragrance. The best way to test any oil fragrance is to apply a small amount to a pulse point (a place on the body where blood vessels are close to the skin). Pulse points are places where the body generates more heat, therefore the fragrance will dissipate faster and give off more scent. Rub the oil into the skin and let it sit for a minute or two before you sniff. This will get you to the second note (the real fragrance) of the perfume. It is best to not sample more than two fragrances in one outing because the different scents will overload your sense of smell and you will begin to confuse the fragrances. If you follow the steps that we have outlined here you will get a more accurate presentation of the fragrance.
